Chromebook Information

Hello Red Jacket Families,

We hope you are staying safe and healthy as we approach the end of distance learning this school year.  Please review the following changes to our June Chromebook collection procedure.

  • Congratulations to our Senior Class of 2020! Seniors are required to return all Chromebooks, chargers, and cases, as well as jetpacks if they have borrowed one.  Your Chromebook will be dropped off  when you pick up your Yearbook (date to be determined). If you will not be picking up a yearbook, please make arrangements through [email protected] to drop off your Chromebook.

  • Current Kindergarten thru 11th grade students will keep their current Chromebooks, chargers, and cases over the summer, as long as everything is still in good working order. If your students' Chromebook needs repairs of any kind please email us at [email protected] so we may make arrangements to swap it out so it can be repaired.

  • If you currently have a Chromebook that you have swapped out (due to issues you have with it) and it is working fine, keep it.  This will now be your student’s Chromebook for the next school year.

  • Students will be expected to bring a charged device for their first day of the 2020-2021 school year.

  • Families can decide whether to allow the use of Chromebooks over the summer. There will not be any changes to on-device Chromebook filtering, so everything will remain the same during summer as it was during the school year.

  • If you have borrowed a Verizon JetPack from us, they will be turned off for the summer and they will need to be returned to the “drop-off table” in the Middle School entranceway by June 18th.

Here are some ways you can keep your device safe over the next few months:

  • Keep food and drinks away from Chromebook.
  • Do not leave the power cord/charger connected to your Chromebook. When the device is fully charged, remove it from the outlet and let the internal battery operate.
  • Chromebooks are intended for inside use.
  • Avoid leaving your device on the floor, dropping it, or using it in any ways that are not intended.
Clean and disinfect your device regularly. Use a damp (NOT SOAKING) antibacterial wipe to GENTLY clean the keyboard, case, and screen. Use a microfiber or soft cloth to remove fingerprints from the screen.
